“Clay Kaczmarek, also known as Subject 16, was planted in Abstergo Industries by William Miles to recover information on the company’s ‘Animus Project’ from the inside. Once captured, Clay was forced to relive the memories of his ancestors through a machine called the Animus. Through this, it was shown that the Templars sought something known as ‘The Apple of Eden’, a mythical artifact designed to control minds and create illusions. By the time he had garnered the information needed, however, Clay had already begun to suffer from something known as ‘The Bleeding Effect’; a condition caused by over-exposure to the animus known to cause vivid hallucinations among many other things. During one of these experiences, Clay found himself faced with a figure who called herself Juno, who told him that his death was near and that he had no further purpose other than to deliver her message to his successor (Desmond Miles). Faced with no option of escape from Abstergo’s testing facilities due to the betrayal set upon him by his partner, Clay committed suicide in early August of 2012.”
